Be clever, play brilliant, and discover how to play craps the proper way!

Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about a century old. Modern craps come about from the old English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the beginnings of the game, however Hazard is said to have been created by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is theorized that Sir William’s soldiers enjoyed Hazard through a blockade on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when expelled by the British, the French moved down south and located sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s said that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which was derived from the name of the losing toss of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi river boats and all over the nation. A good many acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the modern craps layout. He appended the Do not Pass line so players can wager on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he invented the boxes for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
