Be clever, play smart, and master craps the ideal way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about 100 years old. Modern craps developed from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for certain the birth of the game, although Hazard is said to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It is believed that Sir William’s paladins played Hazard during a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the citadel’s name.
Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when displaced by the English, the French moved south and found sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s said that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which is gotten from the term for the losing throw of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi scows and across the country. A good many think the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn designed the current craps layout. He put in place the Do not Pass line so players could bet on the dice to not win. At another time, he developed the boxes for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
